- Battle.net account
- Multiple retail versions of World of Warcraft
- Computer with Internet access
- Monthly subscription (one per account)
Blizzard Entertainment’s, World of Warcraft (WoW), which by all statistics is the most popular online game of all time, has a growing subscriber base of more than 12 million players. However, how many of those subscriptions are actually the same person with multiple accounts? This is a hard question to answer, as a single player can create multiple accounts and play them at the same time, on the same computer or the one next to him, all through a single Battle.net account.
Creating Multiple World of Warcraft Accounts
Purchase multiple retail copies of World of Warcraft (WoW). Keep in mind, you will need a unique CD Key for each account you create. For example, if you plan on creating four accounts, then you will need to purchase four retail versions of World of Warcraft.
Open one of the retail versions of World of Warcraft and locate the CD Key, usually found on the disc sleeve.
Log into your existing Battle.net account and click on 'Add or Upgrade a Game'. A new window will open prompting you to enter your new game key.
Type the CD Key exactly as it appears in the 'Enter Game Key' area, then click 'Add Game.' The new retail version of World of Warcraft is now added to your single Battle.net account. You will receive your first 30 days of play free. However, within those 30 days you will need to set up your monthly payment options to continue playing.
Launch World of Warcraft on your computer. When the login screen appears, log in with your Battle.net account information. You will then be prompted to choose the account you would like to load.
Tips
Rage of the dark gods. If multiple people play in your home, then they need to have individual Battle.net accounts and a unique version of the game registered to each. If you attempt sharing them all from one Battle.net account, then a roommate or child logging in can play on any account associated with that Battle.net account.
If you plan on running two instances of WoW simultaneously on one computer, then verify your computer has the processing speed to handle the additional strain on the system's memory and graphics card.
If you have two different characters on the same account, you can still not play them at the same time. You can only play characters that are unique to different accounts at the same time.
Warnings
Each registered version of the game requires a monthly subscription fee to play. So not only does registering multiple accounts require you to buy multiple versions of the game for unique CD Keys, but it also requires you to pay a monthly subscription for each account.
Blizzard's Battle.net service allows single players to create one Battle.net account and manage multiple game accounts through the same login. On the other hand, if your entire family plays WoW then you will need to follow different steps to create individual Battle.net accounts for each player to avoid violating Blizzard's Terms of Use.

My launcher seems to be stuck on this message for WoW when nothing else is downloading.
Overwatch currently needs an update, which I have paused, and nothing else seems to be updating but WoW will still not update for some reason, making the game unplayable until this update has installed. How can I force this installation or find the other update that's preventing WoW from updating? I've tried clicking the 'Start this installation now' button, but that hasn't helped.
Also, I would install the Overwatch update first but it seems to be stuck on 21% (.I restarted the launcher and now it won't update at all.)

Having the same problem currently.
Even clicked pause all updates then specifically enabled the WoW update and it still says waiting for other updates
Edit:managed to get around it for now by launching WoW directly from the folder bypassing launcher

Heya,
Could you guys try the following?
Open your battle.net launcher > click the blue icon in the top left corner > settings > game install/update > and then click the checkbox that states 'never automatically apply updates'
Then close your launcher completely, and reopen it. You should now have to manually click the update button of the game you want to have updated.

Got the same problem, the above solution did not work for me. I only have an update available for WoW. Yet I get the error.
Heya,
In that case, could you try going to your task manager > processes > and then end the process called 'battle.net update agent'
(make sure to close the battle.net launcher before you do this).

for some reason with me abovemy start button my 'starter edition' dont know where that is coming from is trying to update as soon as i cancelt it everything worked like normal
I paused all of them and restarted my computer and it updated it then
notable though, some of you could also have legion beta and you do not se that one, unless change to beta, I had that a few times, where beta was downloading and i just didnt notice it.
Frozan's solution worked for me:
- Changing setting to never update automatic
- Kill process in taskmaster
- Relaunch and click update
It did appear to be the same issue with being stuck on 'Waiting on another installation or update..' at first, but after about a minute, it finally started downloading the last GB.
Thanks!

For the past couple days the desktop launcher has been stuck on the message posted in the title. I am trying to play starcraft 2 and unable to because the play button is greyed out. Worse is that I am unable to uninstall the desktop launcher because my computer says it is in use, even though I have exited the program. Any help is appreciated because I have unable to fix the problem for more than a day now. Thanks in advance.
Hey smylodon, can you boot into a Selective Startup, and then try uninstalling the Battle.net Desktop App?

Thanks for the help and quick response. I restarted my computer in Selective Startup and then tried opening the desktop launcher before uninstalling. The problem has went away. It did a quick update then allowed me to hit the play button. Thanks again for the help.

Alternative(helped in my case):
Close the desktop launcher Start task manager Switch to processes tab Kill the 'Battle.net Update Agent' process (Agent.exe) Start the desktop launcher, should work now

I have the same issue, but I have tried both suggestions, and neither worked. It's causing WOW, when I hit play, to stop responding.
Right click system track icon, click Pause all Updates
Resume the game you want to update.

None of the above worked for me but the following did:
I closed the launcher and shut down Agent.exe then I ran WoW-64.exe and update started.

None of these steps worked for me either. Killed all battle.net processes, restarted the computer, tried opening the launcher for wow directly, tried running the battle.net directly. Uninstalled the battle.net agent and then tried running WOW.exer and it wouldn't finish loading the launcher - the play button is grayed out - looks like I'm going to have to delete the cache and run a wow repair.
The issue is likely related to a download error. We've improved some error handling for this class of error, but it is in the newest version fo the tools.
If you download the latest Battle.net installer and run it to reinstall Battle.net over your existing installation, it may fix the problem.
